The goal was to create 13 different 8 second video loops, each matching the energy and subject matter of its respective song while repurposing the album art from The Raconteurs’ “Help Us Stranger”. The final product’s mood ranges from joyfully frenetic to peacefully somber just like its stellar source material.
Jack White III believes in giving yourself extreme limitations during the creative process. That belief could take the form of designing with only primary colors or recording songs in high-tension single takes directly to acetate. For me and the art team at Third Man, our limitation was to sample the songs one isolated mix at a time; not hearing the full album but rather something of a sound collage. Our imaginations were left open to visually fill in the gaps for what would ultimately be the album's cover, promotional material, and tour merchandise. The end result was something I couldn't be more proud to have taken part in.
Stoner metal legends, SLEEP had a resurgence with their first release in almost 20 years The Sciences. Along with this new music they wanted to see a glut of new merchandise showcasing new art and a reimagining of their classic album art as pewter pins, blankets, portable record players and more.
A show poster for Broken Social Scene’s intimate set in Third Man’s Blue Room. The amazing 2017 cover art for their record Hug of Thunder was the visual inspiration for this piece.
Live Nation needed a refresh for their NYC's Country Music Festival: Farmborough. Along with the team at St8mnt, I helped repurpose and modernize their online presence while not compromising their established brand.
This show poster for Laetitia Sadier’s Third Man Blue Room performance was a thrilling experiment in screen printing. Sadier’s solo album Finding Me Finding You features beautiful abstract cover art that catalyzed an equally abstract poster. The form on the central image – manipulated from several photos of bismuth and in keeping with that crystal’s color scheme – was printed in black ink on iridescent paper.
Redbeard Brew was an independent branding and packaging project for a local Nashville Beer brewed by my coworker/colleague Josh Goodwin. Redbeard was a delicious red ale that deserved an equally delicious design. This is my personal favorite project of mine in terms of hand-lettering.
